francais - gites de charmeGites de Charme -version francaisLe Jardin des Amis Holiday Cottages

We can accommodate up to 28 people in seven comfortable gites; perfect for groups, couples, families and singles. All of our holiday cottages are well equipped and comfortable (free WIFI included) to help ensure your french holiday is just perfect!  Satelite TV has recently been installed (not in the studios) and for families we have cots & highchairs available + some other items of baby equipment: please ask when booking. Our studio gites have been designed for short stays or 'couples' holidays and we are flexible on changeover days, even in high season!

Our Gardens, Facilities and Swimming Pool

Le Jardin des Amis is set on a 7 acre site and guests are welcome to wander in our wild-flower meadow and perhaps spot grazing deer; stroll through the woods or orchard and help themselves to apples, walnuts or fresh figs (when in season). For children (and the young at heart) there is plenty of room to run off energy or join in an informal summer sports tournament!

If your ideal holiday is simply to relax and do nothing, the peace and quiet to be found beside our pool in the warm sunshine is the place to do it!

Swimming Pool

The swimming pool (open from 1 May - 30 September) is a generous 12m x 6m with a sloping depth of 1 to 2m. The water is kept sparkling clean by the use of a 'salt-system' which is kinder to skin and eyes (particularly for eczema sufferers) than the traditional chlorine system as well as being more environmentally friendly.

In the interests of safety our swimming pool is fenced and has approved alarms in line with current French legislation.

There are ample sun loungers, comfy deckchairs and umbrellas for relaxing around the pool: borrow a book from our pool bar library or swap one that you have already read. For cooler weather (or a quiet evening) borrow a board game or some playing cards.

Holiday Gites with Swimming Pool - Near Sarlat, DordognePool Bar and BBQ

As well as housing books and games, our summer pool bar area (run as an 'honesty bar') provides an environment where guests can socialise with a drink and make new friends after a day out and about in the glorious Dordogne.

Two large barbecues are situated beside the bar and are perfect for guests who wish to share a meal with new (or old) friends. These are in addition to the barbecues found on the terrace of each individual gite.

Sports Equipment

For the energetic we have a range of sports equipment: badminton net and racquets, boules, croquet set, a full size outdoor table tennis table + bats and a small number of bikes which are free to borrow for short periods according to availability (for longer term use, bicycle can be hire locally and delivered to your cottage). For the amusement of small children we have swings & slide as well as books for that bedtime story!

There are a number of enjoyable circular walks to be followed from the cottages and we are only too happy to advise and loan maps. (Out of high season, ask us about guided walks).

Laundry Facilities

On a practical note: a washing machine is available for the use of guests (free) along with irons and ironing boards. Each cottage has a clothes horse, but you are welcome to make use of the clothes lines and pegs at the rear of the property for laundry which will smell of nothing but the freshest of air!

If you have any questions about our facilities, please don't hesitate to contact us.

Meyrals in the Heart of the Dordogne

Our holiday gites are just 500 metres from the centre of Meyrals. Meyrals is a pretty village in the heart of the Perigord Noir where you will find a great boulangerie for your morning croissants, a post office, two restaurant /bar, a brocante, several galleries/ateliers and a small weekly, summer market.

The surrounding area has a wealth of activities to suit everybody. Less the six kilometres away is Les Eyzies-de-Tayac and the Vezere river valley (now a UNESCO world heritage site due to the concentration of prehistoric caves including the world famous Font de Gaume).  The National Museum of Prehistory can also be found in les Eyzies.

Visit the numerous local markets including nearby St. Cyprien or Sarlat (one of the biggest in South West France) to sample the gastronomic delights of Perigord Noir, home to the renowned foie gras, duck confit, truffles, walnuts and wines of the region.
