We welcome guests from around the world and we aim to create the very best holiday for you - here are some of the things our guests have said about us

Orchard View regulars!
Our third and best ever visit!!! A wonderful, wonderful holiday. Thanks for you in 2018! David, Jenny & family.

Accessibility in Magnolia gite

Well, what a stay us Yorkshire folks had with Sue, Jon and Meg in the Dordogne! We stayed in Magnolia gite. Graeme  is a permanent wheelchair user after a spinal injury. Good well adapted accommodation is hard to come by, and this really was one of the best. Plenty of space and a great ensuite shower. It would suit the walking disabled, someone who can do a 180 or 90 degree transfer from wheelchair to toilet. It also takes a standard shower / commode chair over the toilet. It would not suit a wheelchair user needing to place their wheelchair alongside the toilet.
There are two things which might slightly hamper a weaker wheelchair user if they came without companion- the gravel on the drive, and the slight threshold on the level access shower.
You'll never be short of good advice and goodwill on this holiday.
Thank you so much for a wonderful and what will be a long remembered holiday. Blessings Graeme and Jan (waffle) S. June 2015

Mid Winter Holiday
We visited Le Jardin des amis in mid-winter and used it as a base from which to search for a house of our own. The weather was cold dreary, -well it was February - and it rained a lot of the time, but the cottage was cosy and had all the equipment we needed. It was particularly nice to have a wood burner and a massive amount of wood! The location was very pleasant too. Sunday market in St Cyprien nearby was great.

Another afternoon the sun came out and we walked through some wonderful woodlands. The old village of Meyrals was very pretty indeed and the bakery there was excellent. Getting to the bigger towns in the Vezere was easy and it was great to be close to Les Eyzies.

Jon and Sue couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. They gave us plenty of space but were always available for help and advice if asked. They were good company, too, and we had a nice evening in their gorgeous barn conversion. Obviously in that weather we couldn't benefit from the pool or grounds but it was nice to have a little front garden and rear terrace and when the sun did shine we sat out as much as we could. The terrace would have been a real sun trap a little later in the year.

Last of all, it was really good value. We payed a lot more for our second week but missed our little cottage in Meyrals.

Hope to Come Back

holidays for all in the DordogneWe fully enjoyed our time in Chene Vert at Le Jardin des amis. Sue and Jon were very helpful both before and during our stay. They went above and beyond the call of duty when a problem with our transportation arose. They gave us ideas about what to do based on our interests and the age of our children.

The Dordogne area is full of beautiful scenery, historical sites and interesting attractions. We could have stayed a month and found new things to do and see every day. We loved staying in a 300 year old building - it added to our enjoyment and appreciation of the long history in the area.

The pool was a great extra and was very appreciated by our children, and the pool bar was a nice way to meet other guests.

We especially enjoyed sitting in our cottage during the evenings and smelling the honeysuckle on the warm air that came through the back door. We hope to be back some time!

rural family holidays in dordognePerfect Position

Perfect position for all the Dordogne valley offers - prehistoric cave art, troglodite villages, gorgeous hill top towns and the beautiful Dordogne river.

Sue and Jon couldn't be more helpful - particularly if you ne pas parle francais!

Wonderful rural aspect for sunset drinks after a lazy afternoon by the pool. Recommend the river canoe trip.

Very Highly Recommend

Holidays in Perigord Noir - DordogneWe recommend Chene Vert very highly, in terms of convenience for so many of the main attractions of the Dordogne and Vezere valleys, great facilities, cleanliness and friendliness. Set in a peaceful and beautiful medieval village, with restaurant, pizzeria, boulangerie and weekly market.

Very well equipped gite complex, with lots for children and teenagers to do. On site owners were very knowledgeable and helpful. Set in beautiful countryside with lots of quiet lanes and paths to cycle on, we even cycled to the two nearest chateaux! We would all happily return (teenagers 15 and 17).

Fantastic Base

Meyrals - dordogne - SW FranceWe stayed in Chene Vert in May 2010 for a week and in Tilluel in april 2009. Practically, Le Jardin des amis provides a very high standard of accommodation. Both gites were extremely clean and well equipped, light and airy by day and cosy by night.

Supermarkets are close by and we enjoyed fresh bread from the local boulangerie (5 mins walk away). We would also recommend the Pizzeria which again is a 5 minute walk to Meyrals, a pretty medieval village.

The pool area is fantastic and has lovely views of the orchard and woods beyond. All extremely popular with our 7 year old son whilst we enjoy the poolside honesty bar.

The property provides a fantastic base to explore the Dordogne with lots to see and visit for all ages or tastes. Our favourite places are the gardens at the Chateau de Marqueyssac for great views over the Dordogne and a great place for children to run around and explore, Sarlat (for market and shopping) and the nearby airparc (a tree top rope and zip wire park) and all within a very short drive.

Sue and John are warm and friendly hosts and make you feel extremely welcome.

We have enjoyed both our holidays at Le Jardin des amis, so much so, we are starting to think about planning our third !

We would thoroughly recommend Le Jardin des amis to families, couples or groups!
