We welcome guests from around the world and we aim to create the very best holiday for you - here are some of the things our guests have said about us:

Hi Sue & Jon
Just a quick note to say how much we enjoyed our stay with you last week. You really do have a little bit of paradise there in Meyrals.
Thank you so much, once again.

Great place to stay
My wife and I spent a very enjoyable week staying in the Magnolia gite at the end of September. Meyrals is a charming village with a good bar/restaurant and boulangerie within easy walking distance. Saint Cyprien is an easy 10-15 minute drive with a wide range of shops and restaurants and an excellent Sunday market. Although we had mixed weather we found plenty of things to do and see in the surrounding area without having to drive too far.

The gite itself was spacious, comfortable and extremely well-equipped, even including UK satellite TV. It was also designed for disabled access and appeared to have been very well thought-out. The gite complex as a whole comprises 7 units in about 7 acres with a large swimming pool and numerous other well-maintained facilities. Although we did not make use of these because of the weather they looked great, especially for families with children.

The owners, Jon and Sue, live on site and were most welcoming - as was Meg the dog. They were always on hand to sort out any practical issues and gave us lots of good advice on the local area. We would have no hesitation in recommending Le Jardin Des Amis and would happily return to this beautiful part of France. September 2017

Quiet Peaceful Country Retreat
We arrived early, soaking wet and very hungry to be warmly welcomed by the owners John and Sue. We were directed to the nearest restaurant that would still be serving and told our gite would be ready for us on our return.

The gite was very well equipped with everything you could need to cook a meal, tidy up or sit in the little private garden while having a bbq. The private garden was just prefect for our small dog as were the apple orchard and walnut grove beyond the swimming pool for exercising him.

The gite was very clean and modern with a comfortable bed and an excellent local information folder. The swimming pool was crystal clear and surrounded with umbrellas, sun beds, small tables and garden chairs. It was very quiet while we visited with only one other gite let. We took full advantage of the washing machine and washing lines and we really cannot think of anything that would have improved our stay.

Meyral is a quaint typically French village with a butchers, boulangerie, post office, cemetery, town hall and two restaurants. We ate at the Merenda a couple of times it offered rustic, warm and filling, tasty food at a very reasonable price.

To sum up a wonderful dog friendly stay with more than welcoming, helpful owners. Recommended and we would stay again. June 2017

So relaxing........
Stayed a week and caught the last of the September sun. Great place to wind down and relax by the pool with a good book.Village within walking distance with local shops and a lovely restaurant . A lovely place for a return trip!
This was our second stay at Les Jardins des Amis - this time with one week in the larger property with friends and a week in Chene Vert cottage on our own. I can't recommend it highly enough - so relaxing, beautiful setting, helpful owners and a lovely pool. There is so much to do within a 30min drive that it was easy to combine trips out with a good few hours around the pool enjoying the fantastic weather. The local scarecrow festival (last weekend in July) was a bonus with free activities for children, fete and fireworks which we could see from the property. We would definitely like to return, especially to share with another family - the massive loft room in Tilluel was a definite hit with our daughter and her friend and would easily be able to accommodate 4 or more children sharing. Properties are very well equipped, clean and well maintained - any problems are sorted so quickly as Sue and John are on hand to answer questions and help out. The honesty bar at the pool is a bonus, as are the games and books for loan and the free wi-fi. August 2016

Our third and best ever visit!!! A wonderful, wonderful holiday. Thanks for everything...se you in 2018! David, Jenny & family.

Accessibility in Magnolia gite

Well, what a stay us Yorkshire folks had with Sue, Jon and Meg in the Dordogne! We stayed in Magnolia gite. Graeme  is a permanent wheelchair user after a spinal injury. Good well adapted accommodation is hard to come by, and this really was one of the best. Plenty of space and a great ensuite shower. It would suit the walking disabled, someone who can do a 180 or 90 degree transfer from wheelchair to toilet. It also takes a standard shower / commode chair over the toilet. It would not suit a wheelchair user needing to place their wheelchair alongside the toilet.
There are two things which might slightly hamper a weaker wheelchair user if they came without companion- the gravel on the drive, and the slight threshold on the level access shower.
You'll never be short of good advice and goodwill on this holiday.
Thank you so much for a wonderful and what will be a long remembered holiday. Blessings Graeme and Jan (waffle) S. June 2015

Mid Winter Holiday
We visited Le Jardin des amis in mid-winter and used it as a base from which to search for a house of our own. The weather was cold dreary, -well it was February - and it rained a lot of the time, but the cottage was cosy and had all the equipment we needed. It was particularly nice to have a wood burner and a massive amount of wood! The location was very pleasant too. Sunday market in St Cyprien nearby was great.

Another afternoon the sun came out and we walked through some wonderful woodlands. The old village of Meyrals was very pretty indeed and the bakery there was excellent. Getting to the bigger towns in the Vezere was easy and it was great to be close to Les Eyzies.

Jon and Sue couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. They gave us plenty of space but were always available for help and advice if asked. They were good company, too, and we had a nice evening in their gorgeous barn conversion. Obviously in that weather we couldn't benefit from the pool or grounds but it was nice to have a little front garden and rear terrace and when the sun did shine we sat out as much as we could. The terrace would have been a real sun trap a little later in the year.

Last of all, it was really good value. We payed a lot more for our second week but missed our little cottage in Meyrals.

Hope to Come Back

We fully enjoyed our time in Chene Vert at Le Jardin des amis. Sue and Jon were very helpful both before and during our stay. They went above and beyond the call of duty when a problem with our transportation arose. They gave us ideas about what to do based on our interests and the age of our children.

The Dordogne area is full of beautiful scenery, historical sites and interesting attractions. We could have stayed a month and found new things to do and see every day. We loved staying in a 300 year old building - it added to our enjoyment and appreciation of the long history in the area.

The pool was a great extra and was very appreciated by our children, and the pool bar was a nice way to meet other guests.

We especially enjoyed sitting in our cottage during the evenings and smelling the honeysuckle on the warm air that came through the back door. We hope to be back some time!

rural family holidays in dordognePerfect Position

Perfect position for all the Dordogne valley offers - prehistoric cave art, troglodite villages, gorgeous hill top towns and the beautiful Dordogne river.

Sue and Jon couldn't be more helpful - particularly if you ne pas parle francais!

Wonderful rural aspect for sunset drinks after a lazy afternoon by the pool. Recommend the river canoe trip.

Very Highly Recommend

Holidays in Perigord Noir - DordogneWe recommend Chene Vert very highly, in terms of convenience for so many of the main attractions of the Dordogne and Vezere valleys, great facilities, cleanliness and friendliness. Set in a peaceful and beautiful medieval village, with restaurant, pizzeria, boulangerie and weekly market.

Very well equipped gite complex, with lots for children and teenagers to do. On site owners were very knowledgeable and helpful. Set in beautiful countryside with lots of quiet lanes and paths to cycle on, we even cycled to the two nearest chateaux! We would all happily return (teenagers 15 and 17).

Fantastic Base

Meyrals - dordogne - SW FranceWe stayed in Chene Vert in May 2010 for a week and in Tilluel in april 2009. Practically, Le Jardin des amis provides a very high standard of accommodation. Both gites were extremely clean and well equipped, light and airy by day and cosy by night.

Supermarkets are close by and we enjoyed fresh bread from the local boulangerie (5 mins walk away). We would also recommend the Pizzeria which again is a 5 minute walk to Meyrals, a pretty medieval village.

The pool area is fantastic and has lovely views of the orchard and woods beyond. All extremely popular with our 7 year old son whilst we enjoy the poolside honesty bar.

The property provides a fantastic base to explore the Dordogne with lots to see and visit for all ages or tastes. Our favourite places are the gardens at the Chateau de Marqueyssac for great views over the Dordogne and a great place for children to run around and explore, Sarlat (for market and shopping) and the nearby airparc (a tree top rope and zip wire park) and all within a very short drive.

Sue and John are warm and friendly hosts and make you feel extremely welcome.

We have enjoyed both our holidays at Le Jardin des amis, so much so, we are starting to think about planning our third !

We would thoroughly recommend Le Jardin des amis to families, couples or groups!
